• The Number That Changed Everything

For most people, the number thirty is just that—a number. But for me, thirty holds a weight I’ll carry forever. It’s the number of compressions I counted, over and over again, trying to save my stepdad’s life.

I was 15 years old, hiking the Siyeh Pass in Glacier National Park with my family, when Patrick, my stepdad, suddenly collapsed. At 43, he was healthy, vibrant, and full of life—until he wasn’t. The noise he made as he fell still echoes in my mind. It was a noise I never expected to hear, a nightmare I couldn’t have predicted.

Being the only person in my family who knew CPR, I was the one who had to step up. I was the one who stayed by his side for two hours, doing everything I could to save him while my mother sat by his side and sisters searched for help. I performed 7,200 compressions and 480 breaths, but it wasn’t enough. Patrick didn’t make it.

The guilt consumed me. I blamed myself for what happened, even though I knew deep down there was nothing more I could have done. To avoid the overwhelming pain, I threw myself into anything and everything—activities, projects, distractions. Anything to keep myself from reflecting on that day.

  • Turning Pain Into Purpose

But life has a way of forcing you to face your truths. Over time, I came to understand that Patrick’s loss wasn’t something to hide from—it was something to learn from. The experience taught me that life is short, precious, and unpredictable. It also showed me the importance of resilience, community, and connection.

Those lessons shaped everything I’ve done since that day. They pushed me to become a leader, an advocate, and a creator. I began exploring ways to make an impact, to build something meaningful from the ashes of my grief. That’s when I discovered my passion for entrepreneurship. At a young age, I started my first business, driven by the belief that I could turn small actions into big changes. I realized that creating something with purpose—something that truly helps people—was my way forward.

  • The Birth of Unbar

Unbar is the culmination of that journey. It’s more than just a product; it’s a mission rooted in resilience, connection, and authenticity. I came together with my team—Kim and Fritz—because we shared a vision: to break the status quo around mental wellness, self-care, and community. Together, we asked, What if something as simple as a bar of soap could spark a movement?

We created Unbar not just to cleanse the body, but to heal the mind. Each bar is designed with intention, crafted to help people like me—people who carry the weight of their own “number thirty.” It’s a reminder that no matter how overwhelming life feels, there’s always a way forward.

  • Part of Something Bigger

Unbar is part of the UNCompany Enterprise ecosystem, a network of ventures dedicated to breaking barriers and driving change in mental wellness, leadership, and personal growth. We are supported by an incredible team that believes in our mission and shares our values.

As a team, we are united by the belief that small, intentional actions—like using a bar of soap—can lead to profound transformation. And we’re here to support you, just as others supported me when I needed it most.

  • A Movement for Change

Unbar is more than a business; it’s a community. It’s a space where people can unmask their true selves, unleash their potential, and connect with others who understand what it means to carry their own numbers. It’s about showing up, even when life feels impossibly heavy.

My story is just the beginning. Unbar exists to honor stories like mine, to support those who feel lost, and to inspire everyone to take small steps toward greater wellness.
